Artwood Gallery, celebrating 26 years in Fairhaven, hosts New Works Show for May. Artwood, the co-op woodworkers’ gallery, will show new designs by members. Included will be several mixed-media pieces: Jim Hume’s “Through The Cattails:” a sculptural wood and copper wall-mounted entry table with mirror; and two tables by Karen Healy: “Hammered Edges” and “Tall But Small,” made with wood, stone, and forged steel.
Also on display are Ted Scherrer’s new end table; a lantern with stained glass by Tom and Jennifer Dolese; and two elegant new ukeleles by Michael Flaherty, as well as Karl Nielsen’s “Hooty,” a cabinet with an owl theme; and mirrors by Ray DeVries made from a walnut tree that he grew up with. For our monthly Artist Saturday, May 10, Jim Hume will be on hand from 1 until 4 p.m. to talk about his diverse work in many media. Artwood has brightened its look with new paint and a fresh floor layout. Artwood Gallery, 1000 Harris Avenue in Old Fairhaven. 360-647-1628
