Artwood member Karen Healy has been working with her hands for almost all of her life. As a child she learned to weave, the fundamentals of drawing and painting, knitting and sewing and also woodworking. For about 30 years she created and sold Shaker oval boxes, rockers, looms and furniturre. About 13 years ago she took up blacksmithing- ornamental forged iron, and has continued to create furniture with wood and metal as well as metal hangers, hooks, and now jewelry including stone. She continues to make the shaker boxes and also wood tables with metal and beautiful marble or stone. Karen is our featured artist for the month of November and will be in the gallery on Friday, Nov. 27 from 3-5 to great people.
